Last Saturday, I decided to join the rest of the world, and finally watch Frozen! I'm absolutely in love with it, and wish that I had seen it sooner!
Anna, a fearless optimist, sets off on an epic journey - teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven - to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom. From the outside, Anna's sister, Elsa looks poised, regal and reserved, but in reality, she lives in fear as she wrestles with a mighty secret-she was born with the power to create ice and snow. It's a beautiful ability, but also extremely dangerous. Haunted by the moment her magic nearly killed her younger sister Anna, Elsa has isolated herself, spending every waking minute trying to suppress her growing powers. Her mounting emotions trigger the magic, accidentally setting off an eternal winter that she can't stop. She fears she's becoming a monster and that no one, not even her sister, can help her.

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS FROM THE MOVIE
The movie opens up with a group of workers cutting ice, and singing. I was immediately drawn into the vibe and feel of the film and wanted to join in with the singing and dancing. However, my favourite song from the movie is the one that appears next.
The montage played during "Do you want to build a snowman?" tore at my heartstrings. It was tragic, watching Anna grow up without Elsa, yearning for her love and companionship, and wondering where everything went wrong. My heart broke at the part where little Anna said "Okay, bye...."
After the death of the King and Queen, Anna had to grow up all alone with no one to talk to. It doesn't sound like a big deal but imagine living in a large and lonely, castle away from society and people to talk to. I'd probably go insane.
It was also upsetting to watch Elsa lose her childhood and become isolated in order to protect others. Although her parents meant well, Elsa had to opress her powers when she really should have been trying to control them. Perhaps if different measures had been taken, none of the dramatic events would have happened. Then again, that wouldn't have made for much of a movie, haha.

Another one of my favourite songs is "Let It Go". I found it so empowering, and the feeling was emphasized due to Elsa finally embracing her powers, and using them beautifully. I do wish that there was a little bit more focus on Elsa creating Olaf, because quite a few people (including me) completely missed it. Nonetheless, the video sequence that went with the song was breathtaking.
One of my favourite aspects of the movie was watching Anna and Kristoff go from disliking each other, to caring deeply for one a other. Their interactions were humourous and very entertaining. It was so sweet to watch their relationship grow, gradually throughout the movie.
Olaf is definitely one of my favourite characters from Frozen. He was absolutely adorable and I loved him. His scene with Anna in front of the fireplace was heartwarming. I especially loved his line "Some people are worth melting for". He was adorable in the funniest way possible, and I was so glad that Elsa helped him with his little problem in the end.
Overall, Frozen was amazing! I loved that even though there were romantic storylines, the main focus was the relationship between Anna and Elsa. I loved the musical elements, and the sequences that went with them. The music wasn't just thrown in there for kicks, it actually played a part in the storyline, which I greatly enjoyed.
The visuals were breathtaking and I have this strong desire to live in the world of Frozen, and sing songs with people. The music and the visuals were just so magical, and were great assets to this movie.

I rate this
